Three new independent releases worth adding to your week
Three songs. Three completely different moods. In On This Track Midweek Listening 4, we move from hypnotic electronic production to hook-filled indie rock and thoughtful alternative guitar music, proving that some of the week's most interesting releases don't need a full album to leave a lasting impression.
Sushee - "DECEIVE ME"
Some electronic tracks build towards a drop. "DECEIVE ME" is more interested in the mood that comes before it. Sushee lets hypnotic rhythms, deep percussion and layered vocals unfold gradually, creating a track that feels just as comfortable on a late-night dancefloor as it does through headphones. What stands out is the way different influences sit naturally alongside each other. House, amapiano, R&B and electronic production all become part of the same atmosphere without competing for attention. The song never feels crowded, leaving plenty of space for Sushee's vocals to guide the listener through it. With "DECEIVE ME", the Dublin artist continues to shape a sound that feels both intimate and made for movement. It's another confident step towards her upcoming Afro-electronic EP and a reminder that the strongest dance tracks don't always demand attention. Sometimes they simply pull you in.

Graham Hunt - "Getting Older"
Getting older has been one of rock music's favorite subjects for decades. Graham Hunt doesn't pretend to have an answer for it. Instead, "Getting Older" leans into the uncertainty, pairing an instantly memorable guitar hook with lyrics that feel surprisingly grounded. There's an easy warmth running through the song. The guitars are bright, the chorus arrives quickly and stays with you long after it's over. Compared to some of Hunt's more experimental work, this track feels refreshingly direct without losing the offbeat character that has made him such a distinctive songwriter. "Getting Older" is taken from Hunt's upcoming album "American Pyramid", a record shaped by questions of isolation and finding meaning in everyday life. Here, though, those bigger ideas never overshadow the melody. Sometimes growing older isn't about dramatic revelations. It's simply about learning to sit with the passing of time.

BODEGA - "Weather Me"
Every day brings another headline demanding your attention. "Weather Me" captures what happens when all of that noise starts to blur together. Instead of picking one side of the conversation, BODEGA focus on the feeling of trying to stay grounded when everything around you seems equally urgent. The song moves with the confidence of a great guitar band. Big riffs, a direct rhythm and an immediate chorus give it a warmth that feels like a step away from the group's earlier post-punk reputation. Rather than sounding restless, "Weather Me" feels open, melodic and built to be played loud. According to vocalist Nikki Belfiglio, the song is about learning to stand firm in an overwhelming flow of information. That's an idea many artists are beginning to explore, but BODEGA avoid turning it into a lecture. They trust the music to carry the message, proving that sometimes the strongest response to modern chaos is simply refusing to let it pull you under.
